Trust Account Services

Costa Norte Trust Company S.A. offers trust account services for people who are the settlors, grantors or beneficiaries of Asset Protection Trusts or Project Management Trusts. We can also assist our clients in setting up offshore bank accounts, though this is often unnecessary.

Deposits to your trust account are easy to make. Costa Norte Trust Company S.A. maintains international bank accounts with the Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, the largest public bank in Costa Rica, with unlimited deposit insurance. Banco Nacional de Costa Rica is set up to receive and send SWIFT money transfers to correspondent banks anywhere in the world, so making wire transfer to Costa Norte Trust Company S.A. is easy and painless from your local bank. SWIFT stands for "Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications" and most banks in the USA, Canada and Europe are members of this non-profit organization.

SWIFT consists of a one-page document containing the name and code of the originating bank, the date and time, the address and code of the receiving bank, the name and internal code of the officer initiating the transmission, the names and numbers of the accounts involved in the transfer, a description of the asset being transferred, the MT category of the transmission (cash, travellers cheques, money orders), and other acceptable and standardized phrases.

Typical SWIFT transfers to Costa Norte Trust Company S.A. contain the following:

  • Remittance Amount (preferably in US Dollars)
  • The Beneficiary Account No.: ########## (Please contact us for the account number)
  • The Beneficiary Name and Address: Costa Norte Trust Company S.A., Apdo. 471-1000, San José, Costa Rica
  • The Beneficiary Country: Costa Rica

Please note that your bank will levy a fee for sending the SWIFT transfer (between $20 to $30), and the Banco Nacional de Costa Rica will charge a $10 processing fee upon receipt of the funds.

Important: It is imperative that you advise us of the transfer and the amount, to avoid any errors. This can done by faxing us at +506-232-2980 or calling us at +506-290-3300 or North America direct at 1-702-799-9253 or by sending an e-mail to Luis F. Yglesias in our trust accounting department.
